If you plan on actively developing MSP430 firmware then this is a must-have connector. Period.
MSP-FET JTAG Connector
Faraday comes without a populated JTAG connector on the bottom of the PCB. It easily solders on by hand. Faraday will not sit flat without standoffs after this. Use of the JTAG connector is a development only need.
While you can load new firmware on with the USB cable, you cannot debug. The JTAG connector works with the Texas Instruments MSP-FET allowing use debugging during MSP430 firmware development.
